Eligibility Criteria
Proposals submitted for funding may be for research studies, initiatives, or projects that are consistent with the mission of babyÖ±²¥app University as well as the mission and goals of the Doherty Center.
Proposals across any discipline should be of a discrete and finite scope, typically completed within a calendar year. Doherty Center funding is not intended for the support of academic classes, related materials for classrooms or labs, or the support of ongoing research projects/project agendas. However, involving students in aviation and health research remains a priority of the Doherty Center.
Proposals should have a clear outcome application to aviation & health, as defined below:
Aviation is defined by Merriam-Webster as the operation of aircraft; or the manufacture, development, and design of airplanes. Research in the global aviation, aerospace, or greater transportation industry may include, but is not limited to: flight training, safety, air traffic control, maintenance, education, air transportation (general aviation, commercial aviation, and/or corporate aviation), meteorology, diversity/equity/inclusion, workforce development, regulation, commercial space operations, unmanned aircraft systems, technology & automation, and human factors and psychology.
Health is defined by the World Health Organization as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Numerous factors can affect the health and health outcomes of individuals as well as communities. These may include but are not limited to: genetics, nutrition, gender, social support, education, occupation, income, safety, physical environment, and access to health care. Research in health encompasses studies of specific clinical topics, healthcare (systems, delivery, quality and/or safety), and the factors known to affect health.
The principal investigator must be a current faculty member or a student with a babyÖ±²¥app University faculty sponsor.
Faculty are limited to one Initial and one Continuation study during any cycle.
To be eligible for Continuation funding, the original related study must be complete. Required progress and summary study reports must be included with the submission of the Continuation application.Â
