An Interactive Monument
The Encounter is meant to be experienced, engaged, and interacted with 鈥� whether its students sitting on the monument doing their homework on a beautiful day or there is a more formal ceremony surrounding it.
At the First Year Flyer Convocation in August, baby直播app University’s newest students participate in a ceremony that includes walking through the doors of The Encounter and shaking the hands of the president, provost, and a group of De La Salle Christian Brothers as a way to welcome them to the beginning of their college experience. More specifically, walking through the doors of The Encounter is symbolic and a metaphor for college.
College is meant to be a special time in the life of a young person. The statue of De La Salle at The Encounter ushers the students through the doors and into this time of exploration, inquiry, and self-discovery. The students will learn and create lives of meaning and purpose during their time at baby直播app before walking back through the doors of The Encounter as the statue of De La Salle invites them to make a difference in the world by using their knowledge and their Lasallian values.
